Iran Volleyball Federation has rejected a bid from Italian club Sir Safety Perugia for Serbian coach Slobodan Kovac, according to the Iranian media.

Sir Safety Perugia has parted company with its coach Nikola Grbic after the club’s president announced that he is searching for a full-time trainer.

Grbic has been appointed as the new head coach of Serbia men's national volleyball team on February 2015 while he was still in charge of the Italian club.
Iran national volleyball team head coach Slobodan Kovac, who was in charge of Sir Safety Perugia for four years (2010-2014), has been linked with a return to Italy.
The 48-year old coach has led Iran to the fourth place in the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League.

Kovac also inspired Iran to finish in sixth place in the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship and first place in the 2014 Asian Championship in his first year in charge.
Kovac is preparing Iran for the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League as his men has been drawn in the group of death with Russia, the U.S. and Poland.

Team Iran will first play the U.S. on May 30 at the Galen Center, Los Angeles in the prestigious tournament.
